
Record temps over the weekend with back to back 100 degree days helped fuel a cluster of storms that hit northern parts of the Red River Valley over the weekend.
The National Weather Service issued Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for portions of northeastern North Dakota and parts of northwest Minnesota Saturday evening – including western Grand Forks County. Storms redeveloped over Cavalier…Walsh…and Pembina counties early Sunday as well as Marshall and Kittson counties in Minnesota.
Wind gust of 58 to 78 mph were common. One-inch hail fell near Saint Thomas in Pembina County. Power poles were bent south of Walhalla. Several downed trees were reported near Roseau (MN).
Storms on Friday knocked out power to some 15-hundred customers in the Mayville area.
Grand Forks topped out at 103 on Friday and 100 degrees on Saturday.
