EGF looks to fine-tune park improvement plan

East Grand Forks will enlist the services of a construction management firm to help fine-tune cost estimates on potential park improvements – including the aging ice arenas.

Construction Engineers would be hired at a cost of $22,500 dollars to help detail the project bidding and construction schedule.  A staff report pegs the price-tag on the repairs and renovations in the 13-20 million dollar range.

Council member Dale Helms cast the lone vote against the idea of brining another consultant on board.

In other council action members agreed to advertise for bids on a Civic Center refrigeration retrofit.  The estimated cost is $349,700 dollars.  The city plans to use money from a Mighty Ducks grant and Kraft Hockeyville award to fund the project.  Remaining costs would be funded through excess collections from the Swimming Pool sales tax.
