GFFD battling fire at Ambassador Motel (update)

The Grand Forks Fire Department was called out to battle a fire at the Ambassador Motel Friday night.  Crews had the bulk of the flames extinguished around 10:00 p.m.  The GFFD appeared to be battling the fire from two locations.  The 22 unit Inn was closed after inspectors deemed it to be unsafe.  The last residents left the motel on Thursday.

Full GFFD statement:

At approximately 9:36 pm on Friday, April 23rd, the Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to the Ambassador Motel at 2120 South Washington St. for a report of a structure fire.
Fire Crews arrived on scene to find fire in two areas of the structure. Crews extinguished the fires and the cause is currently under investigation. The structure sustained significant fire damage to the areas involved and is estimated at over $30,000. The structure was vacant at the time of the fire.
The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with five engines, one truck, and one command vehicle with twenty personnel. There were no injuries to the public or emergency responders reported. The Fire Department was assisted by the Grand Forks Police Department, Altru Ambulance, and the North Dakota State Fire Marshal.
