The Grand Forks Fire Department made a run to the North Dakota Mill and Elevator shortly after 8:00 p.m. last night after alarms sounded. When crews arrived on scene they were met by facility personnel who reported smoke on the top floor of the K mill located on the southeast corner of the property off Mill Road. The department says an automatic sprinkler system extinguished flames that originated in a piece of equipment. Damages were pegged at around $10,000 dollars. A preliminary investigation blamed the fire on a mechanical failure.
