Demolition of the former Townhouse Motel is well underway. Work crews started taking a wrecking ball to the former Inn on the 700 block of 1st Avenue North last week.
Developers are planning to turn the site into a mixed use development featuring three buildings surrounding a public plaza. The City of Grand Forks approved tax breaks for the so-called Beacon by Epic project in February.
The 2020 assessed value of the Townhouse property was $2.3 million dollars. The estimated value of the completed project is pegged at $50 million dollars.
The goal is to have construction completed on all three buildings by late 2023.
