Despite being deemed unsafe not all residents of the Ambassador Motel in Grand Forks have left the Inn for housing elsewhere. On Friday city inspectors declared the motel “off limits” calling the structure “unsafe to enter or occupy.” Several residents were observed in the building on Wednesday.
A statement released by the city earlier this week stated the exact operation of the Ambassador Motel is also unclear. If the owners are running it as a hotel/motel, they currently do not have the required licenses to do so. If they are not operating as a hotel/motel, they are in violation of city code requiring a certificate of occupancy to lease rooms.
