EGF council talks zoning and liquor licenses

By Doug Barrett Apr 14, 2021 | 7:52 AM

East Grand Forks council is looking at an amendment to current zoning allowing the Circle of Friends Humane Society to operate downtown.  Current zoning does not allow “boarding kennels” in the downtown area.  COF has been in the mall for about a year.   A zoning change would require a public hearing.

East Grand Forks is also looking at cutting the fee for an on-sale liquor license by 25% this year to help businesses impacted by COVID-19.  City leaders say it’s one way to assist establishments that have seen reduced capacity limits due to the pandemic.  A resolution spelling out the discount is expected to be on next week’s agenda.
