EGF approves contract for ongoing park improvement plan

By Doug Barrett Apr 7, 2021 | 8:29 AM

The East Grand Forks council last night (Tuesday) approved a partial payment with JLG Architects for pre-design work on arena and park improvement projects.  The deal is an extension of the agreement signed in 2019.   The city is hoping to float a sales tax referendum to help fund the various upgrades.  JLG has requested a payment of 14-thousand dollars for work already performed.  The remaining $66 thousand dollar balance will be due at the conclusion of a public election in November 2022.

Council member Dale Helms questioned the payment plan.  “This to me sounds like we are bringing in another person to oversee another person.  How many more people are we going to bring on to this project.”

Mayor Steve Gander says it’s part of the process to make sure the project is done right.

The council approved the agreement on a 5-2 vote.
