University Avenue in Grand Forks could receive a renewed look following the results of a survey compiled by the Community Foundation and Knight Foundation.
The results suggest strong interest among residents to invest in the corridor which stretches from downtown through the UND campus. The analysis was presented to members of the city council last night. It looked at corridor safety…transportation…ways to boost activity…and neighborhood identity.
The council voted to ask Planning and Zoning to look into removing the so-called center street zoning from North 3rd Street to the “mill spur” as one way to encourage development.

In other council action members agreed to transfer the ownership of the Corporate Centers I and II from the city to the J-D-A. The move is designed to help pave the way for the sale of the buildings to the private sector in the near future. Updated appraisals of both buildings is currently underway.
