Medora Fire 100% Contained…North Unit 30%

By Doug Barrett Apr 6, 2021 | 8:24 AM

Gusty winds are being blamed for fanning a large fire burning in the North Unit of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

The rough terrain is making battling the blaze more difficult.  The fire has burned roughly 3,000 acres and at last report is 30% contained.  The North Dakota Forest Service says the cause has not been determined – but is likely human related.  The park remains closed.

The fire near Medora has been declared 100% contained.  The blaze was first reported last Thursday and has consumed 2,276 acres.
