(KNOX/KFGO) – A Hankinson woman was arrested on Sunday for allegedly running from law enforcement, and then kicking and punching a deputy in the leg.
Court documents say the Richland County Sheriff’s Office responded to rural Hankinson on reports of a UTV rollover crash.
Deputies say when they arrived they determined that Melissa Anderson had been driving while drunk. Court documents say Anderson fled from the deputies but was later caught. She hit a deputy when trying to arrest her.
Anderson is facing a felony charge of assaulting an officer. She pleaded not guilty Tuesday to misdemeanor charges of preventing arrest, refusing a chemical test and physical control.
