(KNOX) – A Crookston home care service accused of failing to perform timely background checks says they actually did perform them on time. An report from another media company said that Independence Plus, Inc. hired three employees in the early 2010s who had contact with clients that didn’t have their background checks completed until this year. Administrator Glen Baranski emphasizes that background checks for those individuals were done before a new system was introduced.
Baranski also says that the three employees didn’t have their background checks in the new system, and that Independence Plus was given a $600 fine for it.
Independence Plus says on its website that it serves over 200 clients and that they employ roughly 185 people to provide care services.
