(KNOX) –UND Football Player Jy Martin was granted a temporary restraining order by Grand Forks County District Court on Tuesday, as he pursues a fifth season of NCAA eligibility.
The order gives him the same legal status that has allowed Jonnie Wiltshire and Avery Scott to play so far this season.
Martin was practicing with the team in August after the Wisne vs. NCAA, which gave an injunction that lasted for a few weeks, before the NCAA won an appeal in the 10th circuit. The Wisne ruling came in July, and it said that all Class of 2022 High School Athletes who used all of the NCAA eligibility in four years can play a fifth season in 2026.
It’s unclear when Martin will have a preliminary injunction hearing, but Scott will have his hearing today, and Wiltshire will have his hearing on October 1.
