Community Foundation seeks donations on “Give Like Dolly Day” to promote reading in the Grand Forks region

(KVRR) — Friday is not just September 25, it is also “9/25” day in honor of the late icon Dolly Parton and “Give Like Dolly Day”.

Communities around the world will celebrate her legacy of helping kids learn how to read.

The Community Foundation of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks & Region is inviting people to celebrate the day by supporting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Grand Forks County.

The local program launched on July 1 and registrations have surged to more than 1,200 active enrollments.

They say a donation of $35 sponsors one child for a full year of free books.

Gifts of $500, $1,000 or $5,000 can help bring the joy and benefits of reading to many more kids.

Launched in 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is the world’s leading early childhood book-gifting program.
