(KNOX) – In a match delayed, then plagued by, lightning delays, Red River took the first half of the Cushman Cup soccer series Thursday, topping Central 1-0.
The game was scheduled for a 7:00 kickoff, but was delayed by lightning from thunderstorms in the area. The match experienced additional lightning delay time as it went on.
Red River’s win pushed the Roughriders to 11 league points, tied for third in the Eastern Dakota Conference, now 3-1-2 in the league. Central is 1-4-2 in the EDC, with five points.
Red River will host Shanley Tuesday. Central plays at West Fargo.
