(KNOX) –The Grand Forks City Council approved several action items on Monday that involve the construction of a possible senior care facility. The facility could be located near Sertoma Park and Altru Health System and built near Duke Drive and South 34th Street.
The council gave preliminary approval to split a lot at Medvue Estates Second Addition at Duke Drive. The council also introduced and gave preliminary approval to an ordinance to amend the zoning map in anticipation of a fourth Valley Senior Living facility.
Grand Forks currently has three Valley Senior Living facilities. The fourth facility could include 240 units, as the independent living building might have 60 and the assisted living building with possibly 120. The other units for this possible fourth facility could be used for basic or memory care services.
The council also approved vacating both a portion of the Duke Drive right of way and a 10 foot storm sewer easement located on Duke Drive.
