
Disposable masks, gloves and other personal protective equipment have safeguarded untold lives during the pandemic. They’re also creating a worldwide pollution problem, littering streets and sending an influx of harmful plastic into landfills and oceans. Environmental groups are tracking the issue and trying to do something about it. Support groups say they’ve seen a dramatic increase in discarded PPE and are working to call attention to the problem.
North Dakota health officials are reporting 49 new cases of coronavirus today (Sunday). There are 943 active cases statewide. Grand Forks County had 5 new positive hits. Cass was tops with 18.
