(UND Sports Information) – Former University of North Dakota forward Jackson Blake joined an exclusive list of hockey immortality on Sunday night, as he helped the Carolina Hurricanes capture the 2026 Stanley Cup over the Vegas Golden Knights in six games.
Blake becomes the 15th former North Dakota player to have his name etched on the Stanley Cup and the first since T.J. Oshie in 2018 with the Washington Capitals.
The Eden Prairie, Minn., native had a memorable postseason run, scoring seven goals and dishing out 13 assists for 20 points over 19 games. His 20 points are the most by a UND player in a single postseason since Oshie had 21 in 2018 and joins Oshie and Jonathan Toews (2015) as the only trio of NoDak products to eclipse 20 points in a playoff since 2011.
Blake became the youngest player in Carolina franchise history to record seven multi-point games in a single postseason and the fourth to do so in a Stanley Cup clinching game with a goal and an assist. At age 22, he is the youngest player with a multi-point outing in a cup-clinching game since Drew Doughty and Dwight King did so in 2012 for Los Angeles.
