(KNOX) – A new committee addressing the city’s housing shortage has held it’s first meeting
City council president Dana Sande is the chair of the new committee comprised of those involved with government leadership, business leadership, and those involved with housing issues in the greater Grand Forks area.
Sande said the initial meeting, held May 26th, went well, and was largely people introducing themselves. The committee also heard from Mark Schill of Praxis Strategy Group, who delivered a presentation on the increase of rental rates in Grand Forks.
The presentation revealed that rental rates have increased 31% since 2022. Sande called that statistic “startling”.
