(KNOX) – Grand Forks Red River secured a state tournament position with a 5-0 win over Fargo South in Eastern Dakota Conference soccer Tuesday night in Fargo.
The win moved Red River to 9-2-1 in league play, with 28 points, second to Fargo Shanley by two points.
Central fell to Fargo Shanley 2-1, missing an upset bid of the league leader. Central has two contests left, and is clinging to the final state tournament spot in the east by a single league point over Fargo Davies.
Davies has three matchups left. Both Central and Davies will be favored in their matchups with Fargo North, but both matchups could be tight matchups against a capable Spartan team.
Central plays at North Thursday. Red River hosts Davies Friday.
