(KNOX) – Bids on the Point Bridge project this week came in over engineer estimates. East Grand Forks City Engineer Steve Emery says a total of three bids were submitted but only two were opened as one did not meet all the requirements.
Emery says the apparent low bid is 22% higher than engineer estimates of $2.26 million dollars. Although the bids were opened on Monday the actual work won’t take place until 2027. The project was pushed back a year because the wait time for needed expansion joints is five to eight months out.
The point bridge linking Grand Forks and East Grand Fork was built in 1967. The last major rehab of the river crossing was in 2006.
