UND Has Throwers On Display at Recent Meet

(UND Sports Information) – HILLSDALE, Mich. – North Dakota track and field was represented by its throwers in Wednesday afternoon action at the Hillsdale Last Chance meet where two Fighting Hawks claimed runner-up finishes to highlight the day.

Placings from the discus throw and shot put events gave UND five top-five finishes while all six competitors reached the finals of their respective events.
Lucas Schweigert represented the Fighting Hawks in the men’s discus throw finals, finishing fourth overall with his mark of 143-4 (43.70m) while over in the women’s half of the event, Ilarie Villa claimed runner-up. She did so off a throw of 144-1 (43.93m) as Haidyn Skeen joined her in the finals and finished eighth with her mark of 131-5 (40.07m).
In the shot put, another runner-up finish came for Boaz Raderschadt, who took second place following his throw of 51-10 1/2 (15.81m). Two Fighting Hawks placed in the top-five of the women’s portion of the same event as Julia Matthews (46-3 1/2, 14.11m) took third and Skeen (42-7, 12.98m) was fifth.
Results for the hammer throw events—which saw competition from Cailey Moton, Matthews, Raderschadt, Kaylynn Red Tomahawk, Schweigert, Skeen and Katelyn Velesdahl—have not yet been finalized.
The week’s action continues for North Dakota track and field at the NDSU Tune-Up this Friday, May 8 in Fargo.
