(KNOX) – U.S Senator John Hoeven traveled to Grand Forks Wednesday to meet with leaders of the Community Violence Intervention Center and Grand Forks Housing Authority.
Hoeven says he has secured commitments to provide $1.8 million dollars for the CVIC. The money would come via a series of federal grants including $725,000 dollars from the Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is also looking to restructure or forgive the GFHA for a $2 million dollar loan for the LaGrave project. Hoeven says the directive is included in Fiscal Year 2026 legislation.
LaGrave is a 66 unit affordable housing facility and the outstanding loan is hampering efforts to make updates.
Hoeven says both groups provide vital services to the community and the money will help them moving forward.
