(KNOX) – Airline boardings slipped statewide in March according to numbers compiled by the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission.
While traffic at the state’s eight commercial airports declined 4.6% it was the second strongest March on record. A total of 117,481 people took to the skies during the month.
Closer to home 8,891 passengers passed through the gates of the Grand Forks Airport. That was down over eight-percent – and the smallest March tally since 2021. Through the first quarter boardings at the GFK are down over 9%.
The city is trying to use a one-million dollar small community air service grant to lure additional service to Grand Forks. Mayor Brandon Bochenski says air service consultant Meehan Aviation is planning to meet with United Airline officials in June during an air service conference. Bochenski says he’s hoping for some positive news.
