(KNOX) – The Point Bridge linking Grand Forks and East Grand Forks is slated to receive a facelift this upcoming summer construction season.
The Grand Forks council last night (Monday) approved a cost participation and maintenance plan for the $2.26 million dollar project. Under the agreement 80% of the funding comes from federal sources while the remaining bill is split between the two cities. With additional costs for the design the total project cost for Grand Forks is estimated at $334,608 dollars.
The proposed work includes replacing expansion and swivel joints…repairing damaged concrete…painting…and a mill and overlay of the bridge deck.
The Point Bridge was originally built in 1967. The last major rehab on the bridge was in 2006.
