(KNOX) – Tuesday officers from the Grand Forks Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a structure at 623 South Washington Street, the Smiling Moose Deli.

A 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by an 18-year-old female, had been parked in the Smiling Moose Deli parking lot after making a wrong turn. When the driver attempted to leave, she believed the vehicle was in reverse; however, it was in drive. Upon pressing the accelerator, the vehicle jumped the sidewalk and crashed through the front windows of the business.

The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not injured. There were no patrons inside the establishment at the time of the crash. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

The driver was issued a citation for care required.
