(KNOX) – More than $100 million for Grand Forks’ aerospace and defense technology is in the 2026 federal budget.
The largest portion, $50 million, will support satellite operations at Grand Forks Air Force Base, connecting low-Earth orbit satellites to ground receivers.
Another $33 million will fund drone research and counter-drone technology in North Dakota, including $25 million for research by local companies and the University of North Dakota.
The package includes $22 million for protective coatings on military equipment and vehicles. Technology Applications Group in Grand Forks produces corrosion resistant coatings used on ten aircraft.
