(KNOX) – Authorities in northwest Minnesota are warning residents after multiple coyotes sightings in Breckenridge.

The Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office said that the animals have been spotted near the Bois de Sioux Golf Course and are becoming increasingly uncomfortable with people and their pets.

Officials are urging residents to take precautions by securing garbage containers and wildlife feeders, which can attract coyotes.

They’re also recommending that owners keep a close eye on small dogs and cats when they’re outside, since coyotes are known to attack and kill them.
