(KNOX) – The Grand Forks school district is hoping that the public can help the district with enduring students who miss school. 23 percent of students in the Grand Forks School District were not there in the 2024-2025 school year.

District officials are reiterating the importance of being at a desk during the school year when classes are being held.

The national and state average is 20 percent.

Leaders said there are various factors that have contributed to this high rate.

They did not have a reason as to what set Grand Forks Public Schools apart from other North Dakota districts that have lower chronic absenteeism rates that were also affected by the same conditions.
