(KNOX) – According to court records the former North Dakota Game and Fish Department director was arrested on suspicion of sexual misconduct involving a child.
71-year-old Terry Steinwand was arrested last week on charges of gross sexual imposition with a victim under the age of 15. He was arrested by the Mandan Police Department.
Steinwand is being held by the Burleigh Morton County Detention Center, jail records said. Gross sexual imposition is a felony in North Dakota.
Steinwand retired from the North Dakota Game and Fish Department in 2021. He worked at the department for around 40 years and was appointed as director of the agency by Governor John Hoeven in 2006.
