Nobody Hurt in Grand Forks Cooking Fire

(KNOX) – Sunday afternoon the Grand Forks Fire Department responded to 9th Ave North for a report of smoke in a home. A few moments later, this was upgraded to include visible flames.

Fire crews arrived on the scene and encountered heavy smoke on the main level of the home. The homeowner relayed that all occupants and pets were outside and accounted for.

Flames had been extinguished via garden hose prior to fire department arrival.

The home sustained smoke and fire damage in the kitchen area and mild smoke damage throughout the rest of the main floor.

The occupants were able to remain in the home and no displacement was necessary.

The cause of this fire was determined to be cooking-related.

The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with five engines, one truck and a command vehicle with 17 personnel. No responders or occupants were injured during the incident.

The fire department was assisted by Altru Ambulance and the Grand Forks Police Department.

The Grand Forks Fire Department would like to remind citizens to never leave your cooking unattended at any time.
