Less travel in 2020 translated into fewer fender benders among motorists in Grand Forks. A year-end report suggests there were 1,572 vehicle accidents in the city last year. That was a ten-year low – and 865 fewer than in 2019. Injury crashes were down 30% and hit-and-run accidents fell 31%.
GFPD Lt-Derick Zimmel says the data proves 2020 was a unique year.
The P-D also issued 39% fewer parking tickets. One area that didn’t change…fatalities. There were four deaths in the city in 2020 – the same as the year before.
