(Amy Dalrymple – North Dakota Monitor) – North Dakota lawmakers recessed for their crossover break.

Senate Majority Leader David Hogue, R-Minot, said lawmakers completed a lot of work in the first half of the session. Crossover is the deadline to send bills to the other chamber.

The House introduced 620 bills and 34 resolutions. The Senate introduced 400 bills and 28 resolutions.

The total of 1,082 pieces of legislation is the highest number introduced since the 2009 session, according to Legislative Council. In North Dakota, lawmakers vote on every bill introduced.

“I think we’ve got our budgets close to where they need to be. And the revenue continues to be on budget and what we projected,” Hogue said. “Going into the second half, our mindset is to provide significant property tax relief and appropriate funding of our priorities.”
