(KNOX) – The bill in the North Dakota Senate that would have proceeded with the planned casino resort in Grand Forks County by the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa is finished.
John Bernstrom of the City of Grand Forks told Grand Forks City Council that they have talked with the bill’s sponsor, State Senator Scott Meyer.
“The letter of intent that this board signed with Turtle Mountain failed in the Senate Friday afternoon with a 15-to-29 vote. So that bill is dead,” says Bernstrom.
The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa had proposed building a 200-room hotel, casino and resort west of Interstate 29 in Grand Forks County.
The City of Grand Forks had said that if the casino resort was built they would annex the land that it was built on to provide services.
