Early In-Person Voting Begins This Week in Parts of North Dakota

(North Dakota Monitor) -In-person voting for the Nov. 5 general election begins this week in some North Dakota counties.

Morton County begins Wednesday with voting at the Morton Mandan Public Library and Burleigh County begins Thursday at the Bismarck Event Center. Stutsman and Ward counties begin Oct. 28. Cass, Grand Forks and Stark counties begin Oct. 29.

A list of the polling locations and hours can be found on the North Dakota Secretary of State’s website showing precinct locations; click on “Early Voting Available Counties.”

North Dakota does not have voter registration but does require proof of identification.

The acceptable forms of identification are:

  • –A North Dakota driver’s license
  • –A non-driver state-issued identification card
  • –A tribal ID or a tribal letter
  • –A certificate from a long-term care facility.

Other forms of identification, such as a passport, out-of-state driver’s license or student ID, are not acceptable.

Voting by absentee ballot also is underway. Completed absentee ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 4 or placed in a county dropbox by 5 p.m. local time Nov. 4.

Voters can still request an absentee ballot from their county auditor or through the Secretary of State website. Voters must allow enough time to submit an application, receive a ballot and return a ballot.
