(KNOX) – More than 60 residents were asked by the North Dakota Department of Transportation to rate a half-dozen options to improve safety at the Intersection of Highway 2 and Airport Road…west of Grand Forks.
County Commissioner Rob Rost favors construction of an interchange. Ideas offered by the public included rumble strips, speed reductions, overhead message signs and dynamic pavement markings.
Airport executive director Ryan Riesinger says with the growth of the city and Grand Forks Air Force Base, the intersection is becoming more and more urban by the day because of the increasing traffic.
The D-O-T says there will be more public meetings once the option totals are tallied. The D-O-T said the earliest that a safety solution is finalized will be January 2026.
