(KNOX) -They have a plan to present to the Grand Forks County Commission at its meeting this week.

The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office’s Office Relocation Committee came up with a draft that contains various lease options for a new home.

“Tuesday, so July 16th at the commission meeting, it will be the recommendation of this committee here to the full commission, that we pursue a lease,” Grand Forks County Administrator Tom Ford said that the lease will have options for the county.

Ford said that they went over their choices very carefully. “We discussed the two options again. Remodeling, rehabbing the old correctional center. Or do we pursue a build with lease options. The pros and cons were weighed,” said Ford.

The Grand Forks County Commission after the plan has been presented to them will have to decide to go ahead with the plan offered, or reject it.

The Grand Forks Sheriff’s Office has been sharing space with the Grand Forks Police Department in their building.

The Grand Forks City Police Department would like to expand into the space that the sheriff’s office is using.
