(KNOX) – A candidate running to be a judge in North Dakota’s Northeast Central District Court continues to possibly face disciplinary action in Minnesota before the election.
Sarah Kyte is an attorney who practices criminal, family and juvenile law in North Dakota and Minnesota, and she is running against incumbent Judge Theodore Sandberg.
Minnesota Supreme Court Referee Richard Perkins recommended her license be suspended for at least two months on allegations of professional misconduct. The court has not acted on the matter yet.
Judge Anne Rasmusson from Minnesota’s Ninth District Court of Appeals handled a case against one of Kyte’s clients. That client was her partner at the time and is now her husband. Rasmusson says Kyte handled the case inappropriately and with prejudice.
Sandberg was facing disciplinary actions about two decades ago when he was a prosecutor in Michigan. He received a reprimand after he dismissed a felony firearm charge without the approval of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
This election is on November 3rd.
