(KNOX) – Grand Forks International Airport will be getting a new air traffic control center.
The new tower replaces the current one that has been in operation since 1987. The new tower will be 197 feet high, and it will also include both a 650 square foot tower cab and a 22,800 square foot base building.
The Federal Aviation Administration is providing funding through the Air Traffic Control Tower Replacement program. The tower will cost $74 million to build and it will be scheduled to be ready by late 2029.
Grand Forks International Airport will be one of the first airports in the country to have the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System.
