Grand Forks Bus Driver Suspended Wednesday For Allegedly Cursing At Students

(KNOX) –A Grand Forks bus driver was suspended Wednesday for allegedly cursing at students. The bus driver has not been identified, but he is employed by Valley Bus and was on route to Viking and Ben Franklin elementary schools, which teaches students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

One parent apparently shared a video that their child recorded of the driver saying the children are allowed to treat him like (expletive), but he can’t treat them like that. He also apparently called a child a brat.

The Grand Forks School District does not own the buses, and Valley Bus hires the drivers. The drivers go through background checks like all district employees.

The district says that any questions about the incident should be directed to Valley Bus, and Valley Bus says it can be contacted at 701-670-6303.

The district released a statement Wednesday afternoon:

“Grand Forks Public Schools is aware of the reported situation and is working with Valley Bus Services as they review and investigate the concerns that have been raised,” the statement read. “The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. We take concerns regarding the treatment and well-being of our students seriously, and we expect individuals who work with our students to interact with them in a professional, respectful and appropriate manner. This matter is currently being reviewed, so we are not in a position to provide additional details at this time.”

The district hired Valley Bus in 2023 after it offered a lower bid than the district’s former transportation partner Dietrich Bus Service.
