(KNOX) – North Dakota could have to pay millions of dollars worth of SNAP benefit costs, as its SNAP program error rate exceeds the required six percent threshold.
North Dakota’s payment error rate is roughly 12.76 percent, and states with error rates above 6 percent will be required to pay by October 2027. This is mandated under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
The USDA says the national payment error rate for fiscal year 2025 was 10.62 percent, and the total SNAP payment error rate this year is higher than last year. This is the case even though the total error rate this year won’t be published until the fiscal year ends.
