(KNOX/Learfield) –Mayo Clinic is agreeing to pay $50,000 to an employee who received the COVID-19 vaccine against his will. The employee took the vaccine so he wouldn’t lose his job.
This settlement is from a religious discrimination lawsuit where a security guard who is Pentecostal said the vaccine conflicted with his Christian faith. He offered to take COVID tests and wear a mask instead, and Mayo denied his religious exemption request in 2021. Under the settlement, Mayo will now provide religious accommodations to its vaccination requirement unless doing so would create an undue hardship.
