(KNOX/KFGO) – U.S. Border Patrol in Grand Forks say a boat was seized and issued a fine to a fishing guide in Minnesota for failing to properly report his return to the United States.

Border Patrol says the man works as a fishing guide east of International Falls and made landfall in Canada last month by boat. When the man returned to the United States, Border Patrol says he did not report his arrival.

Border Patrol requires all boaters that are on international waters to immediately report to Border Patrol when returning back into the United States.

Border Patrol says it offers a mobile app and kiosks for proper reporting. Failing to report can result in seizure and a minimum fine of $5,000.
