(Learfield) – Nearly 300 law enforcement agencies across Minnesota will take part in an extra impaired-driving enforcement campaign starting Wednesday through Labor Day.

The Department of Public Safety says Minnesota has recorded 62 alcohol-related traffic deaths, 179 serious injuries and more than 13,600 DWI arrests so far this year.

Officials are urging drivers to arrange a sober ride before drinking.

A DWI conviction can lead to license loss, thousands of dollars in costs, jail time, and mandatory ignition-interlock requirements.
