(KNOX/KFGO) –A 36-year-old Pelican Rapids man is the 70th person to plead guilty in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme. Abdirashid Dool pleaded guilty to committing wire fraud for his role in running fraudulent meal sites in Moorhead and Pelican Rapids.
Court documents say that in 2021, Dool claimed to have served tens of thousands of meals to children. Dool submitted false meal count sheets, food purchase invoices and rosters for kids served at the sites. He claimed to have served over 40-thousand meals a week on certain occasions.
Dool received nearly $1.1 million from the Minnesota Department of Education in order to manage the non-profits he said he was running. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
