(KNOX/Valley News Live) –A motorcycle driver and passenger suffered serious injuries last Saturday afternoon when the motorcycle struck an oncoming pickup truck on Highway 66 west of St. Thomas.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:50 p.m. near mile marker 120. A group of motorcyclists was traveling westbound on Highway 66 when a 2008 Harley-Davidson near the rear of the group braked sharply for another motorcycle that was slowing down. The driver lost control and crossed the centerline, striking the rear driver’s-side tire and box area of a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound.
The driver, a 36-year-old St. Thomas man, and his passenger, a 27-year-old St. Thomas’ women were thrown from the motorcycle, and neither of them were wearing a helmet. They were both taken to a hospital in Grafton. The driver was later transferred to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks for further treatment.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 27-year-old woman from West Monroe, Louisiana, was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
