(KNOX) – The construction of a new Catholic Middle School in Grand Forks is expected to be completed by November 2027. St. Carlo Acutis Middle School will join the All Saints Catholic Schools Network, which includes other schools like St. Michael’s and Holy Family-Saint Mary’s.
The new school will have a dedicated prayer room and media center. It will also have classrooms that will provide students with hands-on experience in topics such as science, technology, cybersecurity, engineering, art and math. There will be other curriculum requirements provided for students like English, physical education and faith-based practices.
St. Michael’s is located across the street from the construction site, and they will have a temporary middle school program for seventh and eighth graders for the next two school years.
The new building is named for St. Carlo Acutis, who was an English-born Italian that was canonized in 2025 by Pope Leo XIV. Acutis was celebrated for his online presence and careful documentation of Eucharistic miracles. He died at 15-year-old in 2006 from acute promyelocytic leukemia.
The “Ignite the Mission” funding campaign has raised over $5.3 million, which is roughly 65 percent of its $8.25 million goal. The total budget for the project is $13 million. The remaining funds are being provided by private organizations, like the Diocese of Fargo, and the Catholic Church’s Hommerding grant program.
