(KNOX) – According to a Farm Bureau report, the number of farm bankruptcies in Minnesota more than tripled in 2025, compared to 2024. Bankruptcies rose by roughly 70% across the Midwest, as some of that is being blamed on the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump’s administration. Klobuchar says the tariff’s can’t be an excuse and it can’t be allowed to be a continuing barrier.
Klobuchar wants to put Minnesota at the top for sustainable aviation fuel production. Her plan would includes partnerships with major airlines that operate out of Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, in order to grow what she calls the “sustainable flight market.”
Klobuchar also wants to prioritize other bio-manufactured products in the state. She wants to turn crops like soybeans, hemp, sugar beets and their byproducts into packaging and building materials.
Klobuchar’s plan also touches on encouraging legal immigration, as well as establishing a loan fund for rural housing that would use the state’s housing tax credit.
Klobuchar would like to expand rural Minnesota’s workforce by adding 10,000 apprenticeship and skills training opportunities. She also wants to create an innovation network that would connect manufacturing, healthcare and agriculture employers to other research and development organizations.
