(KNOX) – The Grand Forks Public School District is re-instating bussing fees for students in the 2026-27 school year.
Students will be charged $1.50 a ride, or $525 for the year, although options for paying are being explored, according to Brandon Baumbach, the business manager for the district.
GFPS had a bussing fee of $1.00 per ride before COVID-19. That fee was suspended during the pandemic.
One option being explored is a system of depositing money in a student’s account, and the student swiping their student ID when they board the bus, allowing for a charge only when they ride the bus.
Baumbach says the district is preparing for a system of free, or reduced, bussing for families that may struggle with the fee.
