(KNOX) – East Grand Forks Police Chief Mike Hedlund would like to offer a signing bonus to a new hire.
A new applicant the city would like to hire has multiple offers, and has asked if the city would be able to assist with attending police skills training this summer, among other items.
The $5,000 bonus is potentially funded, as the city set aside $7,200 for hiring bonuses.
Hedlund also asked the East Grand Forks City Council to consider ending the paid pet licenses, a $10 fee to pet owners. Local veterinarians are considering ending their service of keeping impounded animals. Having more people license their pets may limit how many need to be impounded.
